Area 01

Sustainable forest management

Managing forests means caring for them: using them without overexploiting them, preventing fires and preserving their biodiversity and capacity to regenerate, so they keep fulfilling their ecological, social and economic functions for future generations.

01.1

Forest resource assessment and planning

We draft forest management plans and forest planning projects (Technical Forest Management Instruments) for public and private owners and managers, and support them through the whole approval process. This secures the continuity of the resource — timber, biomass, mushrooms, aromatic plants, pasture — with environmental, social and economic benefits.

01.2

Environmental restoration

We restore degraded sites — closed landfills, abandoned or burnt areas — and rewild ecosystems to recover their environmental services. We favour native species, rebuild food chains and remove invasive species such as giant cane, so that nature regains its ability to manage itself.

01.3

Wildfire prevention

Prevention is possible. Through preventive and eco-hydrological silviculture, extensive grazing, agricultural mosaics, green firebreaks and prescribed irrigation we design landscapes that resist fire and improve water infiltration. In 2012 the United Nations recognised our work defending populated areas in the wildland-urban interface.

01.4

Our own forestry crew

Just as we design projects, we like to carry them out. Our agroforestry crew handles forestry, farming and gardening work, restoration of degraded sites, recreational areas and prescribed burns, with specific training, protective equipment, professional tools and full insurance cover.
