Since 2006, the year of our first SIDEINFO project, we have provided engineering solutions to mitigate the risk of wildfires, floods, storms and other natural hazards: planning, sensor networks, simulation, early-warning and active-defence systems, backed by extensive operational experience.
A system patented by our team, with its first project in 2006. It protects communities (collective version), homes (domestic version) or is deployed during a fire (SIDEINFO Zapadores) to support emergency services. It has been adopted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Spain’s Military Emergencies Unit (UME) and the fire services of Valencia and Catalonia.
We apply science and technology to forest land management with a multidisciplinary team — forestry, environmental, agricultural and biological sciences, geography and cartography — to deliver effective, efficient solutions against fire.
We draw up municipal emergency plans, action plans for wildfires, floods and seismic risk, and self-protection plans. Members of our team are instructors at Spain’s National Civil Protection School, and we work with the UME and forest firefighting services of several administrations.
A plan without training is useless in a real emergency. We train operational teams in the classroom, in the field or online using serious-games methods: sand tables, live-fire exercises, water rescue, augmented and virtual reality.
We provide specialist staff who can join the advisory committee of emergency plans: mapping, weather analysis and communication support during the emergency. Our unit has worked with emergency services across the country.
